Carol A. Porter

Lifelong Riverhead resident Carol A. Porter died April 16 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 55 years old.

Born in Southampton July 31, 1957, to John and Beverly McKavish, she graduated from Riverhead High School in 1975 and married Kenneth Porter in Riverhead on Feb. 19, 1976.

She worked as a cook at Hampton Bays Elementary School. She loved traveling, roller coasters and NASCAR.

Ms. Porter is survived by her husband, her sons, Kenneth Jr. and Michael, and her mother, all of Riverhead; her siblings, Cathy, Billy and John Jr., also all of Riverhead, Winnie Kess of Aquebogue, Beverly Kuhmen of Arizona and Evelyn Conklin of Mattituck; and her granddaughter, Kayla. She was predeceased by her father.

Visiting hours will take place Thursday, April 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will be held Friday, April 19, at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Cremation will be private.
