Cops: Teenager caught stealing $2K worth of jeans

A 19-year-old man is facing felony grand larceny charges after stealing more than $2,000 worth of clothes from a Tanger Outlet store in Riverhead, police said.

Norman Oats of Ridge was arrested about 1:30 p.m. at True Religion Brand Jeans after removing $2280.26 worth of clothing from the store, according to a report.

Mr. Oates is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony — the lowest of felony offenses, according to state law.

He was released without bail, and is scheduled back in court on Monday, police said.
