Julius Stapon

Julius Stapon of Aquebogue died April 23 at his home. He was 96.

He was born July 26, 1916, to Charles and Martha (Petrowicz) Stapon. He attended school through eighth grade and later joined the U.S. Army, fighting in World War II. He had been employed as a heavy-equipment operator by Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Mr. Stapon was predeceased by his wife, Ainslee, in 2006. He is survived by his son, Richard, and his daughter, Patricia Wokosky, both of Aquebogue; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors April 25 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Services were held April 26 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Robert Kuznik officiating. Interment followed at Sound Avenue Cemetery in Aquebogue.
