Cedric L. Brown of Conyers, Ga., died suddenly April 30 in Atlanta, Ga. He was 31.
A former Riverside resident, he was born in Southampton March 29, 1982, to Roger Brown and Dawne Gilliam. He graduated from Riverhead High School in 2000 and served in the Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006, earning a Purple Heart.
He married Jacinda R. Baptiste July 30, 2010, in Stone Mountain, Ga., and had worked in security for the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta for the past three years. Family members said he was a strong and humble man who was always smiling and loved his family.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife; his two children, Cedric Jr. and Vincent; his parents; his stepmother, Jackie Brown; his grandmothers, Thelma Brown and Gwendolyn Brooks; his siblings, Daniel Gilliam, Shanai Brown and Marcus Brown; and his aunts and uncles, Sherri Brown, Regina Brown, Ivy Brown, Barbara Brown-Sangare, Thelma (Roosevelt) Brown-Sykes, Kim Johnson-Boyd, Ethel Johnson, LaTesha (Ronald) Gregory and Joenell (Angela) Johnson. He was predeceased by a sister, Kelly Gilliam, in 2003.
Visiting hours will take place Wednesday, May 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Burial will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
