Amelia Wood died Friday, June 7, 2013, of lymphoma. She was 82 years old.

She was born and grew up in New Jersey, moved to Mattituck in 1974 and enjoyed living on the North Fork very much.

As a youth, she participated in many sports and was a proud member of the 1956 U.S. Olympic women’s track and field team, competing in Melbourne, Australia.

She is survived by her loving family: husband, Jon, and children, Suzanne (Keith) Barron, Brendan, Sean and Terence.

The family received friends Sunday, June 9, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Rite of Committal was private.

As she so enjoyed Mattituck-Laurel Library, any donation to it would be appreciated.

This is a paid notice.

  • Only trouble is, the people today who need to see things like this will not se it. When they do, perchance, see it, they will shrug it off as some kind of right-wing propaganda.

  • I’d love to see possibly Herman Cain or Mark Rubio to be the Vice President and I lean toward Mark Rubio but Herman Cain can be excellent also.

  • I under no circumstances could tummy this demonstrate, everyone on it overacted so badly, they all seemed to have a “look at me” complex. Just my opinion, someone should have liked it they kept generating it.
