Man airlifted to Stony Brook after falling off Calverton roof

A man was airlifted to an area hospital after falling off the roof of a two-story home in Calverton Wednesday afternoon, Riverhead Town police said.

Police received a call a man had fallen from a Sound Avenue home in the area of Fresh Pond Avenue about 3:25 p.m., police said.

The man had been doing construction on the home, officials said.

He  sustained spinal and chest injures and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, according to police.

Riverhead Fire Department and Riverhead ambulance volunteers also responded to the scene.
