Cops: Burglar swipes computer, iPad

Someone broke into a Flanders home last week by cutting through a window screen to steal a laptop and an iPad, according to a Southampton Town police report.

The resident at a home on Peconic Trail reported that she had locked her door when she left for work at 7:30 a.m. last Monday, but when she returned at 7:50 p.m. the door was unlocked, according to a police report. Police found the thief had entered through a cut out the screen of a back window.

The thief took a 13.3-inch MacBook Pro computer and an iPad from the kitchen. The electronics are worth about $1,700, according to a police report.

Southampton police detectives are investigating the burglary.
