George H. Kaytis

Lifelong Southold resident George H. Kaytis passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2013. He was 86 years old.

He was born April 25, 1927, in South Jamesport to John and Anna Skinkaytis. He married Jane Neefus Oct. 3, 1954, in Francestown, N.H.

A successful businessman, he was president of See Neefus, Inc. in Riverhead for over 40 years. He belonged to North Fork Country Club, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his golf buddies and served on its board as house committee chairman. He was also an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed listening to music and strumming his guitar, to the delight of family and friends.

George was a devoted husband to his bride of nearly 59 years, Jane. He was a loving, gentle father to Sharon (Ralph) Condit, Jeffrey (Susan) and Lisa; grandfather to Clay, Samantha and Lindsey; and great-grandfather to Autumn. He was predeceased by his brother, John, and his sister, Aina. George’s kindness, moral character and sense of humor will be sorely missed by his loving family.

The family received visitors Aug. 25 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eastern Long Island Hospital.
