Police arrest Riverhead man after early morning robbery

A Riverhead man with an active warrant was apprehended shortly after he allegedly robbed a man with a knife early Wednesday morning, Riverhead Town police said.

Robert K Nash, 45, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery after forcibly removing a cell phone from the victim, police said. Police responded to a report of a robbery on Segal Avenue in Riverhead about 3:30 a.m. Responding officers interviewed the victim, who was able to provide a description of the suspect.

Mr. Nash allegedly fled on foot after the robbery and police located him shortly afterward. Mr. Nash was transported to headquarters and held on an active parole warrant for second-degree robbery.

It was the second incident involving a man using a knife in a robbery Wednesday morning. Police did not say if they were related incidents.
