Cops: Man had suspended license, crack cocaine

94A Middle Island man was arrested on Monday night after police said he found with crack cocaine in the car while driving with a suspended license.

Southampton police said that around 9:10 p.m., 40-year-old Anthony Salvagno was driving down County Road 94 in Riverside when he was pulled over for a traffic infraction.

Mr. Salvagno, police said, was in possession of crack cocaine personally, and also had it in a straw in the car.

Cops said that his license had been suspended, and Mr. Salvagno was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors.

He was arrested at the scene, transported to headquarters, and held for morning arraignment.
