Have an idea to attract people to downtown Riverhead?

What would make Riverhead a better place to live or visit?

That is the question the town board is posing in a community survey aimed at developing more approaches to revitalize areas between Tanger Outlets and downtown Riverhead.

Take the “Riverhead Inspired – Downtown Survey” by clicking here.

The survey is part of a comprehensive approach toward revitalization that started with a Brownfield Opportunities grant from the Department of State and the Department of Environmental Conservation. The $567,000 grant, awarded in 2011, was to pay for marketing and economic development analysis as well as to design a plan to make Main Street more walkable.

Officials would like to hear ideas ranging from lifelong residents to those who may have only visited once.

While taking the survey, participants are encouraged to keep in mind other attractions that could work in Riverhead, such as new events, restaurants or shops.

Participants will be entered in a drawing to win prizes, including a $50 gift cards for restaurants, shops, services, or tickets to the Long Island Aquarium.
