Salvatore A. Anastasio

Salvatore A. Anastasio of Riverhead died Sept. 28 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 94 years old.

He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Brooklyn to Salvatore and Anna (Martingano) Anastasio. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, obtaining the rank of fire controlman first class and was later employed by Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center in Brentwood, becoming its director of human resources.

Mr. Anastasio is survived by his wife, Lucille (née Williams); his stepsons, Tom Gallo of Smithtown and Rich and Jerry Gallo, both of Deer Park; his stepdaughter, Natalie Blacksin of Commack; and nine grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held Sept. 30 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead and will continue Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, also in Riverhead, Father Larry Duncklee officiating. Cremation will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Sinai, followed by interment with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
