Robert K. Boden of Riverhead died Oct. 7 at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 54 years old.
He was born March 9, 1959, to Harry “Babe” and Joan (Hall) Boden. He graduated from Mercy High School in 1977 and was an active alumnus, supporting the athletic program by attending many games and presenting the annual Boden Memorial Football Award.
Mr. Boden was a 32-year veteran of the Riverhead Police Department, achieving the rank of detective, first grade, and was a well-known and well-liked member of the Riverhead community, according to family and friends, who said he had a great sense of humor.
Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Denise (née Holohan), and children, Melissa, Eric, Amy and Bryan, all of Riverhead; his brother, Richard, of Wading River; and his sisters, Kathy Bieber of Riverhead and Kelly Lessard of Jamesport.
The family will receive visitors Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 9 and 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Friday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Larry Duncklee officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
