Cops: Farmingville man arrested for DWI, drug possession

A Farmingville man was arrested on driving while intoxicated and drug possession charges Sunday after he drove away from police near a Northampton bowling alley, Southampton Town police said.

Louis Marcello, 43, was seen “parked suspiciously” behind Wildwood Bowl in Northampton in a Chevrolet pick-up truck about 4:50 p.m., according to a police report. But when the officer approached Mr. Marcello’s truck, he fled, the report states.

Mr. Marcello was pulled over a short distance away on Lakeview Drive for failing to stay in his lane, police said. Mr. Marcello was interviewed by police and had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon [his] breath,” according to the report.

He also was unsteady on his feet and failed a breath test with a .11 percent blood alcohol content, police said. The officer also found an open 12-ounce bottle of Blue Point beer in the truck’s cup holder and “what is believed to be cocaine” in the car, police said.

Mr. Marcello was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, DWI, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two violations, police said.
