Louis Auerbach

Louis Auerbach of Cutchogue died at his Nassau Point home Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013. He was 101 years old.

He was born in Brooklyn Feb. 3, 1912, to Abraham and Rose (Bubis) Auerbach. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, he was honorably discharged as a captain.

Louis enjoyed a career of 50 years as a teacher and principal with the New York City Board of Education. During his post-retirement years, he was a consultant in the education field.

He enjoyed riding horses when he was young and will be remembered as a voracious reader.

Predeceased by his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by his son, Roy (Claudia) Auerbach of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Andrea Spatz of Garland, Texas; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Auerbach and Simon and Matthew Spatz.

Services were private. Arrangements were handled by DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes.
