Former Riverhead resident Leroy F. Graff of Lyons, Ga., died suddenly Oct. 2 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, Ga. He was 83 years old.
He was born March 28, 1930, and moved from Riverhead to Lyons in 2006. He was a veteran of the Korean War and had been employed by the New York Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years. Family members said he loved gardening, Long Island seafood, fixing anything with a motor and spending time with his dog, Sebastian.
Mr. Graff was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, in 2009 and is survived by his daughter, Barbara Wooten of Riverhead; his son, John, of Lyons; his sister, Alice Brower of Florida; and three granddaughters and one great-grandson, all of New York. He was also predeceased by his brother, Whitney, in 2013.
The family will receive visitors for a memorial service Thursday, Nov. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
