Carmine P. DioGuardi of Aquebogue died Nov. 7, 2013, of ALS at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook. He was 71 years old.
Born Aug. 7, 1942, in Mount Morris, N.Y., to Joseph and Sarah (Noto) DioGuardi, he graduated from Mount Morris High School. He then served in the U.S. Army for three years until his honorable discharge as a sergeant.
Carmine was a retired custodian with the Mattituck-Cutchogue School District and a member of Living Water Full Gospel Church in Aquebogue.
On Nov. 12, 1965, he married Elizabeth “Josie” Geraci in Caledonia, N.Y., and later became the father of three children, Lori (Jim) Peraino of Geneseo, Sarah (Scott) Hassildine of Cutchogue and Carmine DioGuardi Jr. (Stacey) of Lima, N.Y., who all survive him.
He is also survived by his siblings, Sam (Dee), Joe (Rose), Tony (Dorothy) and John (Peggy), all of Mount Morris, Chuck (Nancy), of New Jersey, Ida Meek (Jerry) of Arizona, Sarah Quirk (Jim) of Rochester, Donna Perham (Roger) of Piffard, N.Y., Ann Sullivan (the late Jack) and JoAnn Prew (Richard), both of Florida, Julie Brennan (the late Dan) of California and Sharon Farrell (Jim) of Rochester; five grandchildren, Rachel Peraino of Chili, N.Y., Nick and Natalie Peraino of Geneseo, Joshua Hassildine of Cutchogue and Cory DioGuardi of Lima; and a large extended family and many friends. He was also predeceased by his brothers Richard and Pat (Fran).
The family received friends Nov. 9 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where services were conducted by Pastor George Dupree. The family will also receive friends Friday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 6 p.m. at John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mount Morris. Services will be conducted by Donna Perham.
