In the past two years, the Riverhead football team has posted a 17-3 record against Division II opponents in Suffolk County, including the playoffs.

Two of those losses have come at the hands of East Islip.

Tonight, at Stony Brook University, the Blue Waves will be aiming for their second straight county championship and will do so against the one team that has had their number the past two years. The Blue Waves (9-1) lost 50-36 at East Islip in Week 2 this season for their lone loss. But the Blue Waves have shown a vast improvement on defense as the season has progressed.

The winner of tonight’s game advances to the Class II Long Island Championship Nov. 29 at Hofstra University.

Check back tonight for a live blog from Stony Brook for real time updates on the game.
