The Riverhead Town Labor Management Committee has donated a new gazebo outside Town Hall in the memory of the late Jack Hansen, the longtime town finance administrator who died in 2006 at the age of 53.

Mr. Hansen, who worked for the town for almost 30 years, was a founding member of the Labor Management Committee.  He also was a founding member of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a longtime board member of the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, among other programs he was involved in.

The committee plans to formally donate the gazebo at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 10. Mr. Hansen’s wife, Denise, and daughter, Lisa, are scheduled to attend.

The gazebo will be used for town wedding ceremonies, the group says.

The ceremony is still planned, despite the snow, committee member Ray Coyne said .
