V. Avis Tuthill Reeve

Lifelong Riverhead resident V. Avis Tuthill Reeve died peacefully at her home Dec. 17. She was 94.

Born Sept. 26, 1919, to Vivian (Hallock) and Sherwood Tuthill, she attended Riverhead schools and Wheelock College. She taught kindergarten for many years in the Middle Island and Coram school districts until retiring to care for her family and flower gardens.

Predeceased by her husband, Richard, she is survived by her daughter, Susan, and son, Richard (Debbie), both of Riverhead; sisters, Janet Doughty of Warwick, N.Y., and Betty Ebetino of Venice, Fla.; grandson, Terry (Jennifer) Vrooman of Pleasanton, Calif.; two great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
