Riverhead Town police said they’re investigating several reports of shattered car windows in South Jamesport, and they think many were caused by BB guns.

Police have confirmed at least seven cars were damaged either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The incidents took place on Green Street, Second Street, Kirby Lane and at Motel on the Bay.

No arrests have been made.

A woman who lives on Green Street said she noticed a small crack at the bottom of her car’s front windshield about noon on Sunday.

Another neighbor said he found the back window of this Toyota 4Runner shot out.

“It’s just kids being kids, but they don’t realize how many thousands of dollars in damage it is to fix,” he said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call (631) 727-4500.
