Edward C. Goodfield

Former Riverhead resident Edward C. Goodfield of Palm Bay, Fla., died Jan. 16. He was 90.

Born July 2, 1923, in Brooklyn to Edward and Elsie (Schmid) Goodfield, he served in the U.S. Army as a private first class during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. He later founded and operated Edwards Sporting Center in Riverhead.

Mr. Goodfield was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (née Nauss), in 2001 and is survived by his daughter, Diane McGee of Hampton Bays; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors Jan. 26 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a funeral service took place Jan. 27. Pastor John Kenreich of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hampton Bays officiated. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
