Wading River fire, ambulance call numbers from January

Wading River firefighters responded to 19 calls — including five structure fires and two gas leaks — in January, according to figures released by Wading River Fire District officials. Wading River ambulance crews responded to 62 calls last month, the report states.

Here’s a breakdown of the number and types of fire calls the Wading River Fire Department responded to in January:

• Structure fires: 5
• Gas leaks: 2
• Automatic alarms: 11
• Assist/Service call: 1

Here’s a breakdown of the number and types of ambulance calls the Wading River Emergency Medical Service responded to in January:

• Motor vehicle accidents/Vehicle verus pedestrian accidents: 7
• Unconscious: 4
• Stroke: 3
• Chest pain: 3
• Convulsions: 2
• Laceration: 1
• Burns: 1
• Diabetic: 1
• Trouble breathing: 14
• Fall: 9
• Sick: 13
• Abdominal pain: 2
• Back pain: 1
• Heat exposure: 1

Earlier this month, fire officials reported 2013 was the second-busiest year ever for the department.
