Boys Basketball: SWR’s playoff hopes fade in Bayport

Facing a win-or-go home game Tuesday night against Bayport-Blue Point, the Shoreham-Wading Wildcats fell 48-33, bringing their season to an end.

The Wildcats finished the League VI season 5-7, one win shy of securing a spot in the postseason. Bayport outscored the Wildcats by 13 in the fourth quarter to blow open what had been a two-point game after three quarters.

Connor Panzner led all scorers with 23 for Bayport, which improved to 7-4 in League VI. Jonah Caldwell was the only Shoreham player in double figures with 11.

When the teams for the first time earlier this year, Danny Hughes powered the Wildcats with 27 points. But the Phantoms limited him to just 4 points this time around.

The Wildcats finish the season 9-8 overall.
