The Riverhead Town Board discussed having a model airplane day at the Enterprise Park at Calverton Thursday with John Sabini, a member of the Long Island Tomcats model airplane club.

Mr. Sabini had sought to use the area near the unused runway at EPCAL for model airplanes in 2007, but the plan never got off the ground. Also at Thursday’s Town Board work session, the board discussed a proposal for the town-owned Second Street firehouse with Suffolk Theatre owner Bob Castaldi, scavenger waste tipping fees and Town Board committee assignments.

There was also a special meeting before the work session to authorize bonding for the town sewer plant upgrade.

The meeting started at 10:30 a.m. and News-Review reporter Tim Gannon live blogged it.
