A woman was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center Thursday night after her vehicle collided with a Hampton Jitney bus on Route 58 in Riverhead, Riverhead Town police said.

The unidentified woman was traveling alone in a Jeep Latitude near the traffic light at the Staples shopping center at around 8:30 p.m. when she collided with the Jitney, which was at a bus stop at the time of the accident, police said.

The woman suffered head injuries after striking the steering wheel, police said. Emergency officials had requested a Suffolk Police Medivac to transport the patient, but the airlift was cancelled due to the rainy weather, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
