Cops: Flanders man caught driving with cocaine

A Flanders man was arrested on a felony drug charge early Friday after Southampton Town police said they caught him driving with a suspended license in Hampton Bays, while he had drugs on him.

Police said 28-year-old Walter Mims IV was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. after he was stopped for a traffic violation. Further investigation, according to police, revealed that he was in possession of both crack and powder cocaine while driving with a suspended license.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor; and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

He is expected to be arraigned Friday morning.
