SWR school board to continue 2014-15 budget talks Tuesday

The Shoreham-Wading River school board is expected to continue discussing the preliminary 2014-15 budget at Tuesday night’s meeting.

During the Board of Education’s March 4 meeting, Superintendent Steven Cohen district cost increases would be held to 1 percent — and the equivalent of about 15 positions could be eliminated through retirements, staff redeployments and some layoffs.

In addition to discussing next year’s spending plan, school officials are scheduled to give a presentation about the high school’s English program, according to the meeting’s agenda.
