Three people were injured in a two-car accident on East Main Street Monday morning, Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance officials said.

A tan Hyundai Santa Fe heading eastbound collided with a white Toyota about 10 a.m., both ending up on the sidewalk in front of the Washwick Agency at 860 East Main Street, officials said.

Riverhead Fire Chief Timothy Corwin said the department’s heavy rescue winch was needed to pull the two vehicles apart in order to rescue the Toyota’s male driver.

Two women and one man were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, ambulance officials said.
