Voters approved the budgets for three local libraries Tuesday: the Riverhead Free Library, the Baiting Hollow Free Library and North Shore Public Library in Shoreham.

The Riverhead Library budget was approved 172-87, which included 100 absentee votes, according to library director Joy Rankin.

The $3.5 million tax levy approved by voters is up by 1.9 percent over the current year’s $3.45 million budget approved in April 2013.

“I’m ecstatic,” said Ms. Rankin, who took over as director last August. “It’s the first budget for me as Riverhead director.”

The Baiting Hollow Free Library budget also was approved, 161-98. Its budget of $11,900 is up $100 from the current year.

And the North Shore Public Library budget was approved 308-162. The library district also had an election for a library trustee, with Jennifer Juengst edging out Charlotte Karp-Fritts by one vote, 269-268.

She will fill the seat that will be vacated by Steven Losquadro, who did not seek reelection.
