Help your school win a 2014 Solar Decathlon Europe trip

Jump in state aid for local schools, March 2013

Riverhead and Shoreham-Wading River high schools are participating in this year’s EmPower Solar Student Competition for a chance to win scholarships and a trip to the 2014 Solar Decathlon Europe.

Both high schools are among 36 Long Island and New York City teams that have submitted multi-faceted projects depicting the benefits of solar energy and YouTube videos explaining why they should win the competition.

EmPower Solar, a solar engineering and installation company based in Island Park, has asked each team to promote their videos and secure the most “likes” in order to help them win the all-expense-paid trip to Versailles, France.

“The entire EmPower team looks forward to this event each year and some of us are particularly excited to treat the student winners to some tasty crepes at the Solar Decathlon venue in Versailles,” EmPower Solar CEO David Schieren said in a press release.

Riverhead has two teams competing: SolarVerse and Puppy Power. The Shoreham team is Solar Achievers.
