The owner of a mobile home that caught fire on Peconic Bay Blvd. in Laurel Saturday night crashed his vehicle into a tree while attempting to leave the scene for help, Southold Town police said.

Laurel resident Ronald Diachun, 55, crashed his 1991 Chevrolet after the fire sparked at around 7:50 p.m., police said. The Mattituck Fire Department transported Mr. Diachun to Peconic Bay Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, officials said.

The fire department found the trailer fully engulfed in flames and firefighters put the fire out, police said.

No other information about the incident or Mr. Diachun’s injuries were immediately available.

Police said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
