Motorcyclist airlifted following Sound Avenue crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center after he was injured  in a two-motorcycle crash in Riverhead Sunday, Riverhead Town police said.

The motorcyclist, a male, was traveling east along Sound Avenue near Route 105 when he bumped into motorcycle of a man he was traveling with and lost control of his bike. The other man involved in the crash told police the injured victim appeared to be distracted by a car attempting to turn out of the Briermere Farms parking lot.

The man was treated for his injuries by Riverhead police and volunteer ambulance personnel, and eventually airlifted to Stony Brook, police said. The nature of his injuries was not immediately known.
