The Long Island Sound Chorus, the Riverhead chapter of Sweet Adelines, recently traveled to Albany to compete at the National Convention, where they sang on the steps of the Capitol building with hundreds of other Sweet Adelines. The LISC practices every week in Riverhead and they sing beautifully.

Kelsey Saladino, daughter of Tom and Kerry Saladino, was one of many children to receive her first Holy Communion May 3 at St. Isidore R.C. Church. A family gathering — attended by Kelsey’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends — was held at their home following the ceremony.

At the memorial service, the department paid tribute to the following firefighters: ex-captain Harold “Smokey” Schaefer, John Urevich, ex-captain Frank Sendlewski, ex-captain Joe Kaelin, ex-member and captain Bernard Mickaliger and ex-member Tom Jasinski. A fire helmet, jacket, boots and an ax were displayed on a cross among the bouquets of flowers. Memorial candles were also lit and taps were played following a moment of silence and the reading of the names.
