State police make 2 DWI arrests over weekend
State troopers arrested two local men this weekend after they were caught driving drunk near Route 58, according to a police statement.
On Friday, Andrew Van-Riper, 62, of Riverhead was pulled over at the intersection of Osborne Avenue and Route 58 for a traffic violation, state police said. Police found he was intoxicated and arrested him at the scene.
Two days later, a second Riverhead man was arrested a few streets away. Nabio Rangel, 20, was stopped on Route 58 near the traffic circle on Roanoke Avenue, police said.
Both men were charged with driving while intoxicated and released with a future court date.
