A 28-year-old man was assaulted with a crowbar Saturday night at a home on Hinda Boulevard, Riverhead Town police said.

Police received a call shortly after 8:50 p.m. from the victim that reported being beaten by “an unknown male” with a crowbar at an “unknown location,” officials said.

Police later found the victim at a residence on Hinda Boulevard, officials said. The victim said he was in the basement watching television when a man punched him, struck him with a crow bar and fled, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene by Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, officials said.

When the Riverhead Detective Division conducted a subsequent investigation, the victim “became uncooperative,” and refused medical treatment and police assistance, officials said.

The victim then signed himself out of the hospital and left, police said.
