Cops: Bicyclist injured in car accident in Riverhead

A bicyclist was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center early this morning after a collision with a motor vehicle in Riverhead, according to Riverhead Town police. 

The bicyclist, 24-year-old Jesus Flores-Antonio of Riverhead, suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 25 and Doctor’s Path at about 5:23 a.m., police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 2002 Ford pick-up truck, was questioned at the scene and was not charged. No criminal charges are expected at this time, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said, and the accident remains under investigation.
