Arthur L. Pfister

Arthur L. Pfister of Riverhead died May 30 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 90. 

He was born April 5, 1924, in Queens to Louis and Catherine Pfister and was employed by Prudential as an insurance salesperson. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Riverhead and the Knights of Columbus Mastic Council #5293.

Family members said Mr. Pfister enjoyed sports, (especially New York Yankees baseball), animals, reading, music, and American History, especially the Civil War.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 1998 and is survived by his children Maureen Skidmore of Riverhead; Dorothy McGarr of Holbrook, Virginia Villardi of Middle Village, Queens, Joan Luxembourg of Florida, John of Florida, Michael of Virginia; his companion, Fran Nolan; his sister, Jacqueline Growe of Howard Beach; his brother, Ronald of Staten Island; nine grandchildren; and  nine great-grandchildren

The family will receive visitors Monday, June 2, from 7 to 9 and Tuesday, June 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.
