Cops: Traffic stop leads to drug charges in Flanders

A Cutchogue man was arrested on drug charges early Monday morning after police found him in possession of a crack pipe and an amount of crack cocaine during a 6 a.m. traffic stop in Flanders, Southampton Town police said. 

James K. Smith, 53, was stopped along County Road 105 an undisclosed traffic infraction when he was found to be driving under the influence of drugs, police said. Further investigation found him to be in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and a crack pipe, police said.

He was charged with DWI-Drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Mr. Smith was transported to police headquarters, processed and held for a morning arraignment, police said.
