The New York State Track and Field Championships kick off Friday morning at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Athletes from Riverhead, Shoreham-Wading River and McGann-Mercy all qualified based on their performance last weekend.

The top-ranked athlete is Shoreham-Wading River’s Ryan Udvadia, who’ seeded second in the 3,200 behind a fellow Suffolk County runner, Tim McGowan of Northport. Udvadia’s seed time of 9 minutes 4.24 seconds came at the Loucks Games in early May. Udvadia finished sixth in that race; four runners were under nine minutes in that race.
