Cops: Aquebogue man arrested after choking girlfriend

A 26-year-old Aquebogue man was arrested Saturday on assault charges in Riverhead after allegedly choking his girlfriend, who reportedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife in self-defense, Riverhead Town police said.

Tarell Holloway reportedly beat up his girlfriend and was stabbed in the arm during the physical dispute, police said.

Officials said the victim called 911 from her home shortly after 6 p.m.

Mr. Holloway was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and was arrested at the hospital after he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

He was charged with third-degree assault, police said.

Mr. Holloway was then processed at police headquarters and held for morning arraignment, officials said.
