Motorcyclist airlifted following crash in Manorville
A motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center after being injured in an accident in Manorville Monday, Riverhead fire department officials said at the scene.
The motorcyclist, a male, was traveling on Mill Road near Edwards Avenue when the crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m., officials said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the motorcyclist to crash, officials said, as the victim was discovered on the side of the road with the bike on its side.
Officials said the victim was treated for spinal and neck injuries.
Because of the location of the crash, emergency personnel from several jurisdictions responded to the scene; including the Riverhead police and fire departments, Manorville EMS and Suffolk County police.
Northbound traffic on Edwards Avenue was stopped during the rescue efforts and was reopened a short time later.
