RECAP: Town may ban solar farms on agricultural land

The Riverhead Town Board discussed banning solar energy farms from agriculturally zoned land in town and limiting them to industrial land at its work session on Thursday. Officials say they fear allowing solar panels on farms would transform them into industrial sites.

The board also discussed state labor department citations against the highway department, whether the town’s noise meters are being used properly, and whether to ban Town Board members from political committee leadership posts.
