Cops: Aquebogue man arrested after fleeing police on dirt bike

A 22-year-old Aquebogue man was arrested by Southampton Town Police on Tuesday night after they said he was caught driving a dirt bike in Flanders without a helmet of headlights, and attempted to flee police in the process.

Police said Willie Kadeem Joevonne Turner was spotted by police driving on Flanders Road. After police attempted to pull him over, Mr. Turner reportedly led cops on a short pursuit down Townsend Avenue before he got off his bike and fled on foot.

The man was caught after a short foot pursuit, according to police, and arrested around 11:50 p.m.

He was charged with obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree and resisting arrest — both misdemeanors — as well as multiple traffic infractions.

Police said he was held for morning arraignment.
