Cops: Man hits friend with beer bottle, turns himself in

RiverheadPD HQ - Summer - 500

A 37-year-old Riverhead man wanted after hitting a “friend” over the head with a beer bottle early last month turned himself in to Riverhead Town police Monday, authorities said.

Enver Zorluoglu was arrested on second-degree assault charges following an incident that occurred June 6 around 11:30 p.m., according to Riverhead Police.

Police were called to 1572 Main Road in Jamesport where they found a 42-year-old victim bleeding from his forehead. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The male victim said he had been struck on the head with a Corona bottle by a “friend that was intoxicated,” about 11 p.m., according to a report.

Mr. Zorluoglu was said to have fled on foot, with police issuing a release seeking information on his whereabouts shortly after.

He was arraigned Monday at Riverhead Justice Court and released on $500 bail, court officials said.
