A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a man police say paid for $1,000 worth of sneakers from a downtown store with a stolen credit card.

According to police, a man bought five different pairs of shoes from the Sneaker Aquarium at 41 E. Main St. with the stolen card on May 23.

Police described the man as black and about 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a heavy build. He was clean shaven, police said, and at the time of the incident was wearing dark blue pants and a light blue hospital scrub shirt, also wearing a stethoscope around his neck at the time of the theft.

Anyone with information about the arrest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, or Riverhead Police at 727-4500 ext 327. All calls will be kept confidential. Information that leads to an arrest offers a cash reward of up to $5,000.
