A very special congratulations to the Corwin family — parents Blake and Jasmine Corwin and big sister, Lila. Their new addition, Quinn Marie, was born July 7 at 1:24 a.m. This sweet baby girl weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches. Jasmine says Lila is loving every moment with her new baby sister. Congratulations!

The Northville Beach Civic Association is proud to announce its 2014 academic scholarship winners. The scholarships are supported by the Riverhead Lions and the United Terminal of Riverhead. Each year, applicants from the association are asked to write an essay about their connection to Northville. It can be a memory, a tradition shared, a reflection or an environmental concern or issue. This year’s first-place winner is Alyssa Vicari, who will attend Fairfield University. Second place went to Sarah Richardson, who will attend Le Moyne College. Scholarships will be awarded at the annual NBCA cocktail and scholarship party Aug. 23. Congratulations, Alyssa and Sarah, and the best of luck in your academic pursuits.

There are still some tickets remaining for our Canine Companions for Independence fundraiser, “Wine and Noses,” to be held Thursday, July 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Martha Clara Vineyards. Tickets are $60 each or two for $100 and include a glass of wine, appetizers from Grace and Grit, your choice of entree from the North Fork Food Truck or The Roaming Fork and dessert provided by North Fork Food Truck. In addition to the exceptional food, there will be raffles and presentations. You will be inspired as you mingle with these exceptional dogs and their trainers who help create miracles for exceptional people with disabilities. Let’s give CCI a great North Fork welcome. Tickets can be purchased online at cci.org/LIWineAndNoses or by calling me at 631-833-1897. I will deliver them to your door.
