State PD blotter: 5 impaired driving arrests in past week

State troopers say 62-year-old Willie Ross of Riverhead was arrested Tuesday after he crashed his vehicle while driving drunk, and then gave an false name to officers. 

Mr. Ross was involved in the accident on Flanders Road in Riverside, state police said. Police found Mr. Ross was intoxicated and arrested him at the scene.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and false personation, both misdemeanors, and released with a date to return to court.

• On Thursday, two people were caught driving drunk with marijuana in their cars in two separate incidents, state police said.

Marguerite Ambrosio, 20, of Ridge was stopped for speeding while headed north on Route 24 Thursday, according to a police press release. Ms. Ambrosio was found to be intoxicated and in possession of marijuana, police said.

On East Main Street in Riverhead, 20-year-old Michael Bragg of Riverhead was pulled over for “traffic violations,” according to the release.

Both were charged with misdemeanor DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. They were released with future court dates, police said.

•  A Mastic Beach man caught speeding in Northampton Friday was arrested for driving drunk, police said.

Kyvon L. Anderson, 24, was seen speeding northbound on County Route 51, according to a police release. He was arrested at the scene and charged with misdemeanor DWI, police said. He was released from custody with a future court date.

• A Bellport teen was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession after he was pulled over on the Long Island Expressway in Riverhead Friday, state police said.

Tashaunn D. Johnson, 19, was stopped for a traffic violation, police said. Police did not release information about what drugs Mr. Johnson is accused of having at the time of his arrest.

He was released from custody and is due back in court next month, police said.

• A  Flanders woman was arrested for driving drunk after she was pulled over in Hampton Bays Saturday, police said.

Jolanta Zalagaityte, 26, was pulled over on Old Riverhead Road for traffic violations, according to a police release. A state trooper found she was intoxicated and arrested her at the scene, police said.

She was charged with msidemeanor DWI and released with a future date to answer charges in court.
