ORIGINAL STORY

When the New York Giants host the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, there will be a familiar face lining up in the backfield.

Miguel Maysonet, who last year bounced around six different NFL cities trying to make a roster, is playing for the Steelers in training camp this summer. The Steelers are playing their first preseason game tonight at 7:30 p.m. against the Giants.

The former star running back from Riverhead and Stony Brook University, Maysonet is one of eight running backs currently on the Steelers’ roster. Le’Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer are listed as the top three backs on the team’s depth chart.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back who led the Blue Waves to a Long Island Championship in 2008, Maysonet signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers in January. He’s trying to make the Steelers’ final 53-man roster. If not, he could end up with the team’s practice squad.

After going undrafted in the April 2013 NFL Draft, Maysonet signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent most of training camp last year with the Cleveland Browns, who signed him off waivers, before being cut when the team trimmed its roster down to 53. He made stops on the practice squads for the Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Washington Redskins.
