Harold Hansen Jr. of Riverhead died Aug. 6 at his home. He was 86.
He was born June 14, 1928, in Riverhead to Harold and Helen Hansen and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Most recently, he worked as a salesman for Consolidated Cigar Corp in Long Island City.
Mr. Hansen’s son Dan said his father was very active in the Moose Lodge, receiving the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest honor awarded to a member of Moose International. Dan also spoke about his father being an avid New York Mets fan.
Mr. Hansen was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Patricia, in 2010 and is survived by his sons, Ron and Dan, both of Riverhead and Tim of West Islip; his brother, Robert of North Carolina; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family received visitors Aug. 8 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place Aug. 9 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Riverhead, officiated by Father Larry Duncklee. Interment took place at the church cemetery.
